Beaba's parent company, Scandinavian Child, began shortly after the birth of Founder Brenda Berg's first child, and Scandinavian Child officially launched in the spring of 2003 with its flagship product, the Svan High Chair. Brenda quickly found high demand for high-quality children's products that emphasize beautiful design, functionality and safety, and continues her pursuit of designs without compromise.
The "designs without compromise" philosophy means every product they represent must meet their demanding criteria:
Style - Timeless designs that blend with home decor or match parents' sense of personal style
Safety - Safety-driven designs that meet or exceed both mandatory and voluntary safety standards for juvenile products
Multi-functional - Products that serve over the long term
Eco-friendly - Environmentally conscious designs that emphasize sustainable raw materials, lead-free finishes, Phthalate-free plastics, PBDE-free cushions, low-VOC paint, and formaldehyde-free plywood.
Superior Quality and Service - Long-term warranties and exceptional customer service assure customers that they can expect a high-quality product with a matching level of support.
Because children deserve a future that depends on a clean, sustainable earth, Scandinavian Child is just as committed to environmentally responsible materials and practices. Their exceptional baby furnishings feature natural, sustainable woods such as the Cariboo line's New Zealand radiata pine, one of the most widely grown exotic timber species in the world.
Svan's largest suppliers of birch wood are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, an international network to promote management of the world's forests. They also look for fabrics that are pure and natural, like 100% wool and 100% unbleached cotton.
Even in the everyday routine of the Scandinavian Child offices. they're dedicated followers of reuse and recycle programs. Every step we take toward respecting and improving the environment helps ensure a brighter tomorrow for us all.
As a proud member of the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA), Scandinavian Child test and certify all of their products to the stringent safety standards established by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). They feel strongly about distributing only the safest products and display the JPMA certification, where applicable, to assure parents they are buying the absolute best products for their child.
In fact, they go the extra mile to ensure that all products are tested to any relevant ASTM standards even if they are not covered in the JMPA certification program. Working to champion the cause of safety standards in children's products, Brenda Berg, president and CEO of Scandinavian Child, serves on the JPMA board and is a member of several ASTM committees.
Scandinavian Child is committed to offering extraordinary baby furnishings that are good for babies and good for the planet. Their goal: to provide the safest, most environmentally sensitive products on the market. Non-toxic children's products Scandinavian Child goes the extra mile to make sure their products are free of substances that could put children at risk. They regularly conduct laboratory tests on every part of the products they represent.
The result? Greater peace of mind for parents, knowing that their baby is protected from exposure to toxic substances that could impair healthy development. Scandinavian Child is proud to offer exceptional children's products with features like these:
- PBDE-free foam cushions and padding Lead-free stains and finishes
- Phthalate-free plastics
- Bisphenol A-free plastics
But they won't rest there. They vigilantly watch the latest updates on elements that may be harmful to children, and will continue to work with their manufacturers to identify and eliminate potentially toxic chemicals.
Before using for the first time, for reasons of hygiene, complete 3 cooking cycles of water only using 3 measures of water each time, Then clean the bowl and accessories (spatula, bowl lid, basket, blades, gasket and mixing lid) with warm soapy water. Your Babycook is now ready to use.
The water should be poured into the heating reservoir. This is located in the main body of the Babycook. The lid is directly above the steam/blend knob. The measure of water is determined by the type of food you are steaming. The marks for determining 1, 2, or 3 measures of water are located on the bowl of the Babycook.
When steaming foods with high water content, such as runner beans, zucchini, apples and pears, cook for approximately 10 minutes with 2 measures of water. When steaming foods with low water content, such as potatoes, carrots, peas, red meat and poultry, cook for approximately 15 minutes with 3 measures of water. The Beaba Babycook provides for super fast cooking in 15 minutes or less. For reheating purposes, cook with one measure of water (about 5 minutes).
Food that needs to be reheated should be placed inside a heat resistant bowl or a Beaba portion, and placed in the cooking basket. Pour one measure of water into the heating reservoir then proceed as for the cooking cycle. When the indicator light goes out, let the contents cool before removing.
Place the mixing lid on the cooking bowl and ensure that it is lying flat inside the bowl so that it does not slip down when mixing. Lock the lid tightly onto the bowl, then lock the whole unit onto the pedestal. Turn the knob to the right towards the blend symbol, until you get the desired consistency.
Always ensuring you use the mixing lid, it will keep any food debris from re-entering and contaminating the steam heating compartment.
Follow the same method for reheating, only pour in two measures of water instead of one, and proceed with cooking and mixing.
Always unplug the appliance before you start cleaning it. Immediately rinse the accessories that have come into contact with the food under running water. Wash with warm soapy water. After cleaning the blade, make sure that the gasket and seal are reattached properly. Never submerge the appliance in water. The bowl, basket, lid and spatula are top-rack dishwasher safe.
If you notice a brown deposit (lime scale) in your heating reservoir, you'll need to de-scale your appliance. Please note, this is not toxic to your infant.
Descale the heating reservoir regularly using white vinegar only. Ensure the device is cold and not connected to the electrical outlet; pour a mixture of 3.4 ounces (100 ml) of water and 3.4 ounces (100 ml) of white vinegar into the heating reservoir. Leave for the night and then empty. Repeat the operations if necessary until all lime deposits have been removed.
Connect the device to the electrical outlet and then complete two heating cycles using water only in the heating reservoir (3 measures of water) in order to rinse it well. Then clean the bowl and accessories with warm, soapy water. Never use a chemical descaler or a coffee machine descaler in the heating reservoir.

I love my Beaba!!!
There is very little to clean and almost nothing to get wrong, a great combo! Organic baby food is at least $1 a jar and my baby goes through 4-6 jars a day. I have had my Beaba for less than two months and it has already paid for itself. Really a great little product.
Also, you can adjust the consistency to your baby's tastes as they grow. Soon I'll be using it to steam instead of blending food. The Beaba has paid for itself and given me the confidence to make my own baby's food, a great buy for any Mom!
