Scandinavian Child, began shortly after the birth of Founder Brenda Berg's first child, and Scandinavian Child officially launched in the spring of 2003 with its flagship product, the Svan High Chair. Brenda quickly found high demand for high-quality children's products that emphasize beautiful design, functionality and safety, and continues her pursuit of designs without compromise.
The "designs without compromise" philosophy means every product they represent must meet their demanding criteria:
Style - Timeless designs that blend with home decor or match parents' sense of personal style
Safety - Safety-driven designs that meet or exceed both mandatory and voluntary safety standards for juvenile products
Multi-functional - Products that serve over the long term
Eco-friendly - Environmentally conscious designs that emphasize sustainable raw materials, lead-free finishes, Phthalate-free plastics, PBDE-free cushions, low-VOC paint, and formaldehyde-free plywood.
Superior Quality and Service - Long-term warranties and exceptional customer service assure customers that they can expect a high-quality product with a matching level of support.
Because children deserve a future that depends on a clean, sustainable earth, Scandinavian Child is just as committed to environmentally responsible materials and practices. Their exceptional baby furnishings feature natural, sustainable woods such as the Cariboo line's New Zealand radiata pine, one of the most widely grown exotic timber species in the world.
Svan's largest suppliers of birch wood are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, an international network to promote management of the world's forests. They also look for fabrics that are pure and natural, like 100% wool and 100% unbleached cotton.
Even in the everyday routine of the Scandinavian Child offices, they're dedicated followers of reuse and recycle programs. Every step we take toward respecting and improving the environment helps ensure a brighter tomorrow for us all.
As a proud member of the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA), Scandinavian Child test and certify all of their products to the stringent safety standards established by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). They feel strongly about distributing only the safest products and display the JPMA certification, where applicable, to assure parents they are buying the absolute best products for their child.
In fact, they go the extra mile to ensure that all products are tested to any relevant ASTM standards even if they are not covered in the JMPA certification program. Working to champion the cause of safety standards in children's products, Brenda Berg, president and CEO of Scandinavian Child, serves on the JPMA board and is a member of several ASTM committees.
Scandinavian Child is committed to offering extraordinary baby furnishings that are good for babies and good for the planet. Their goal: to provide the safest, most environmentally sensitive products on the market. Non-toxic children's products Scandinavian Child goes the extra mile to make sure their products are free of substances that could put children at risk. They regularly conduct laboratory tests on every part of the products they represent.
The result? Greater peace of mind for parents, knowing that their baby is protected from exposure to toxic substances that could impair healthy development. Scandinavian Child is proud to offer exceptional children's products with features like these:
- PBDE-free foam cushions and padding Lead-free stains and finishes
- Phthalate-free plastics
- Bisphenol A-free plastics
But they won't rest there. They vigilantly watch the latest updates on elements that may be harmful to children, and will continue to work with their manufacturers to identify and eliminate potentially toxic chemicals.
| Attach Support Bars: Insert the flat end of the two Support Bars into the Main Beam. (Wood screws will be inserted last.) |
|
| Attach Floor Base: Insert the other end of the two Support bars into the Floor Base. (Wood screws will be inserted last.) |
|
| Attach Main Beam: Align the Main Beam to connect with the Floor Base. Insert two Medium Allen bolts from the outside of the Main Beam. From the inside of the Main beam, connect the Medium Allen Nuts to the Medium Allen Bolts that were installed through the outside of the Beam. |
|
| Attach Seat Base and Foot Rest base: Insert a Sleeve Nut into the side opening on the Seat Base. Align the Seat Base to the Main Beam so the rounded edge and bolt holes face down. Attach Seat Base below the harness loop and secure with a Washer and Allen Bolt. Repeat this process for attaching the Footrest Base. |
|
| Attach Seat: Insert two Round headed Allen Bolts up through the Seat Base grooves from the underside of the Seat Base. Place the Seat onto the Seat Base without he larger bolt openings facing up and so that the ends of the Round headed Allen Bolts appear in the holes. Attach two Short Allen Nuts and secure. |
|
| Attach Foot Rest: Place the Footrest onto the Footrest Base so that the larger bolt opening is facing up. Insert and secure two Short Allen Bolts in the holes on top of the Footrest. There are two settings for attaching the Footrest to the Footrest Base. The Footrest base should be on the outermost setting for a smaller child, then moved in when in the lower positions.
|
|
| Attach Back rest: Align the Backrest without he Main Beam so the harness loop rests between the Seat Base and the Backrest. Insert and secure the two Short Allen Bolts in the holes on the front side of the Backrest. |
|
| Insert Wood Screws: Secure the Support Bars with four Wood Screws. One on each side of the Main Beam and two on the inside of the Floor Base. |
|
| Assemble and Install Safety Guard: To attach the Safety Guard, start by moving the Seat within 1 inch of the highest position on the Main Beam. Mount and secure the Crotch Bar under the seat by inserting the Safety Bolt through the Crotch Bar into the back recessed nut in the Seat Base (closest to the back of the chair). Do not over-tighten. The safety bolt will not screw completely into the nut. Its purpose is to ensure that the Safety Guard does not become detached when it is adjusted to fit the child. Insert the Black Knob in the front recessed nut through the Crotch Bar. This knob will allow you to loosen the Safety Guard to insert and remove the child in the seat. Insert the sides of the U-bar into the openings in the Chair Backrest. Loosely attach the U-bar to the Crotch Bar by inserting the Round-headed Allen Bolt through the back and secure from the front with the Allen Nut, align the U-Bar so it is straight, then tighten the Allen Nut that secures the Crotch Bar to the U-Bar. be sure to adjust the Seat and Safety Guard to heights that are compatible. |
|
| Assemble and Install Tray: Attach the Tray Clips to the tray using the two Wood Screws for each Tray Clip. Be sure that all screws are completely tightened. The tray attaches to the Safety Guard and is secured by the two holes on the side of the Safety Guard. When not in use, the Tray can be stored on the back of the chair on the holes at the end of the Safety Guard. |
