Happy Father’s Day to all the rockin’ pops out there! Gargantuan shouts of glee and festivity are welcome!
Celebrating the influence and support of dads and father figures goes wayyy back in U.S. history … well, sort of. Fathers and the like may have been appreciated in personable ways long before our annual June soiree, but the official holiday stamp was only recently signed into law.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Richard Nixon signed Father’s Day in law in 1972 after the holiday was officially recognized by Lyndon B. Johnson in 1966. As a matter of fact, Father’s Day’s origin in the United States dates back to June 17th, 1910 to the celebration’s first proclamation by the mayor of Spokane, Washington – the same beautiful city that serves as GreenCupboards headquarters (whoop!). How’s that for a bit of coincidental history. Since Father’s Day falls on the 17th this year, GreenCupboards has concocted some of the coolest, most solar powered, somewhat goofy yet refined gifts for dudes turned dads and father figures at large. Take a gander.
