It seems just about everyone is glued to their TVs right now. With the London Olympics in full swing, nearly every non-work related conversation at GreenCupboards is about the athletes and sporting events on the other side of the pond. Now we all know about the more popular Olympic Games such as swimming, track, gymnastic and tennis. But those are not the only sporting events grabbing our attention at GreenCupboards. That is why we want to help introduce you to some of the more unusual Olympic Games including handball, trampoline, judo and shooting.
Olympic Handball
Handball is a game that combines elements of soccer and basketball. It is played indoor on a court much like a basketball court but longer. Players bounce and dribble the ball across the court trying to make it in the opposing team’s basket, which is guarded by a goalie. Olympic Judo
Judo is a martial arts sport that looks like a cross between wrestling and boxing. The object of the sport is to get your opponent to give up by holding them in a way that either causes too much pain or makes the opponent pass out. Judo begins on two feet and the match is generally initiated when someone throws the other person to the ground to gain a dominant hold on them. Olympic Shooting
Olympic air rifle shooting is all about being the sharpest shooter. During shooting, competitors stand at a target range with air rifles attempting to get closest to the bulls eye on a target, shooters stand about ten yards away from the target.
