Startup Weekend gives people the opportunity to explore what it takes to be an entrepreneur. The global movement inspires and empowers entrepreneurs to launch their ideas into successful ventures. Since 2011, 400 different events have taken place in 100 countries, including in our hometown of Spokane, Washington. GreenCupboards began as a startup so we are big supporters of Startup Weekend and the work they do. Startup Weekend Spokane 2013 is just around the corner. Here are the details:
- What: Startup Weekend Spokane
- When: March 1-3, 2013
- Where: WSU Riverpoint Campus
- How: Register Online
All events are organized in the same way. Everyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers. Everyone then votes for their favorite ideas. All of the participants then divide up into groups and work on building upon the top ideas as voted on. The teams get 54 hours to create and write a business model, market validation, code and design. It is a little bit of a frenzy but a lot of fun. At the end of the weekend, teams present their work to a panel of local entrepreneurial leaders to get feedback.
Many successful startups were born at Startup Weekends around the world. We are excited to see what comes out of the upcoming Startup Weekend in Spokane. Have you ever attended this event?
