BPA Free Eco-Trait
The BPA Free Eco-Trait applies to all products that do not contain bisphenol A (BPA), which can contaminate food or water, as deemed by their respective manufacturer. As a rule of thumb, number 3 and number 7 plastics often contain BPA.
Bisphenol A (BPA) is a commonly occurring industrial chemical, used in the production of plastics and epoxy resins since the 1960s. It's often found in plastic bottles, containers and dishes. According to the Mayo Clinic and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, BPA has been categorized as a substance in need of “Some Concern” by the National Toxicology Program (NTP). This mid-level warning on a scale of “Negligible” to “Serious Concern”, focuses on potential pre and post natal effects on the brain and prostate gland. To date, the risk of BPA contaminating food or water is often associated with plastics exposed to heat for certain durations of time, causing BPA to leech into its surroundings.
We believe that it is important to shop BPA free to make sure you and your family do not get exposed to unnecessary toxins. By purchasing BPA free products, you never have to wonder whether your baby products could be leeching contaminants. Instead, you can rest assured knowing that your plastics are safe.
