Description

In the early postpartum period the most efficient way to obtain breast milk is to do it with your hands. Mothers of pre-mature babies also should not rely solely on breast milk pumps to establish a breast milk supply. For the mother who wants to use their hands for their breast milk Hygeia created the Expression Cup.

The Expression Cup is non-toxic and BPA (bisphenol a) free so your baby is protected from chemicals that could seep into the milk. The design was made specifically for the hand-expression of breast milk. The gentle contoured shape was made to facilitate you with the hand expression and collection of your breast milk. The universal thread makes it compatible with all wide mouth storage containers.

Store milk toward the back of the freezer, where temperature is most constant. Milk stored for longer durations in the ranges listed is safe, but some of the lipids in the milk undergo degradation, resulting in lower quality.

With the birth rate in the U.S. over 4 million newborns every year, conservative estimates are that at least 2 million breast pumps are purchased and thrown away annually by new parents, even if after only a few days or weeks of use. The leading manufacturers of breast milk pumps designated these pumps as single-user devices, meaning that these pumps can be not be reused between mothers.

Hygeia's breast feeding pumps tackle the growing problem of baby products in landfills making Hygeia perfect for new parents who are also eco-conscious. Hygeia offers their "Go Green Solution" that when a mother no longer needs her breast milk pump, it can be easily re-used by another mother as long as each mother has her own personal accessory set (PAS). This reduces the number of pumps that end up in landfills.

Re-usable pumps are not a new invention. Hospitals have, for a long time, used reusable breast feeding pumps but few families can afford to buy these pumps. Hygeia's breakthrough is that these hospital grade pumps are now portable, economical and safe for re-use between mothers since all the parts that touch a mother or her milk are part of her personal accessory set. Hygeia's breast milk pumps also feature a unique bacteria/virus filter that is designed to block bacteria, viruses and fluid from entering the pump or causing cross contamination. Plus, these pumps are BPA (Bisphenol a) free and non-toxic thus protecting your baby from harmful chemicals that could seep into your breast milk with other breast milk pumps.

As if fewer breast feeding pumps being tossed into a landfill was not enough, the Hygeia EnJoye breast pump features an optional reusable lithium ion battery. This rechargeable battery lasts for up to four hours of use before needing to be recharge. Other pumps typically use multiple AA batteries that follow the pumps to the landfills after use.

Hygeia is committed to reducing, reusing and recycling. Hygeia's breast milk pumps are designed for sharing between mothers, when each has their own personal accessory set, allowing parents to reuse their breast pumps and reduce the number of pumps and batteries that would otherwise end up in a landfill. Further, these pumps are completely recyclable allowing you to truly live the green motto, "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle."

Environmentally Preferred Product (EPP)

Hygeia proudly offers an EPP program for consumers, WIC agencies and corporations to reduce environmental impacts by allowing the re-manufacture of the Hygeia breast pump. Additionally, the plastic personal accessory sets are recycled to further support their earth-friendly strategy. Take a look at Hygeia's EPP flyer for more information.
