| Refrigerator | 39 degrees F 4 degrees C | 5-7 days* | 24 hours ** | Store milk in the back of the main body of the refrigerator. |

Hygeia features Green breast pumps for new parents who are concerned about the growing problem of proliferating landfills with baby products.
With the US birth rate topping 4 million newborns every year, conservative estimates are that at least 2 million breast pumps are purchased annually by new parents. Most of these pumps end up in landfills even though they may have been used for just a few days or weeks. The leading breast pump manufacturers have designated these pumps as single-user devices, which means that these pumps can be not be shared between mothers.
Hygeia has a Go Green Solution. When a Hygeia consumer no longer needs her breast pump, it can be re-used by a friend or family member when each mother has her own personal accessory set (PAS). This means fewer pumps in the landfills.
Re-usable breast pumps are not new to hospitals, which use expensive durable medical breast pumps that few consumers can afford to buy or want to carry around. The breakthrough is Hygeia's adaptation of this leading hospital technology into a consumer retail product that's portable, economical and safe for re-use between mothers. All the parts that touch a mother or her milk are part of her personal accessory set.
In addition to fewer pumps in the dumps, the Hygeia EnJoye breast pump features an optional reusable lithium ion battery. This rechargeable battery will last for up to four hours of use, and is another Green feature. Competitive breast pumps typically use multiple AA batteries that end up in landfills after use.
Hygeia is committed to the environment and making the earth a Greener place for new parents and babies.
All Hygeia breast pumps are ecologically sound and designed for sharing between mothers when each has their own personal accessory set. However, many non-Hygeia purchased breast pumps are just designed for one mother and are then tossed into the trash. Increasingly people all over the world realize that reuse of items is more environmentally friendly and the Green way to go. Hygeia's personal-use breast pumps also feature a unique bacteria/virus filter that is designed to block bacteria, viruses and fluid from entering the pump or causing cross contamination. All the parts that touch a mother or her milk are part of her personal accessory set.
Hygeia proudly offers an EPP program for consumers, WIC agencies and corporations to reduce environmental impacts by allowing the re-manufacture of the Hygeia breast pump. Additionally, the plastic personal accessory sets are recycled to further support their earth-friendly strategy. Please click here to see Hygeia's EPP flyer for more information.
Instructions for Recycling Hygeia Breast pumpsWhen you no longer need to use your Hygeia EnJoye breast pump, do not discard it in the trash. Instead you can send it to Hygeia for recycling. Hygeia will recycle the pump or its part in a sound ecological manner. Please see their detailed recycling instructions below.
Did you know that millions of single-user breast pumps end up in landfills every year?
At Hygeia, they care about Mother Earth. That's why they made a pump that can be recycled when mom no longer needs it. When you're finished using your Hygeia EnJoye breast pump, simply return it to them and they'll make sure it doesn't become landfill waste.
