PlanToys practices the "FOUR R's" of green living: Rethink, Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. PlanToys is the first company to manufacture toys using wood from rubber trees that no longer provide latex. The sap from the rubberwood tree, which grows to be 50 feet or more, is the world's primary source of natural rubber. After about 25 years, the latex yield decreases and the trees are usually cut down and burned. Instead of wasting this valuable resource, building their toys from rubberwood helps preserve the delicate balance of our eco system. There is no deforestation involved in the harvesting of rubberwood, as felled trees are replanted with new ones. Rubberwood is an eco-friendly, sustainable, high quality wood. The paper used in packaging is recyclable which further reduces waste and PlanToys plants use state of the art solar energy and biomass (fuel from biodegradable organic material).
Green Material
PlanToys uses environmentally-friendly materials.Kiln Dry, Chemical Free Rubberwood
All PlanToys are made with clean, natural rubberwood from rubber trees which no longer produce latex. To keep the rubberwood pure, no fertilizer is added to the soil for three years before the trees are cut. To strengthen the wood, PlanToys uses a special chemical-free kiln drying process.
E-Zero Glue
PlanToys are assembled using a certified E-Zero glue in place of traditional toxic wood glue.
Water-Based, Non-Toxic Colors
PlanToys does not use dyes containing lead or any other heavy metals. They use only safe, non-toxic water-based dyes on all of their toys.
Recycled and Recyclable Materials
PlanToys uses recycled and recyclable material to minimize their impact on the environment.
Printed with Soy Ink & Water-Based Ink
PlanToys uses soy and water-based inks on their printed materials. These inks are more readily biodegradable and can be recycled more efficiently than standard chemical ink.

Alternative Energy (Solar Cells & Biomass)

Biomass is also used in the curing and plywood molding process. This form of energy helps reduce electricity usage and waste. PlanToys will soon be using a Biomass Steam Turbine Generator.
