Ultrasonic Humidifier H4600 Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I use a humidifier?People need a certain level of humidity to be comfortable. In the winter, indoor humidity can be extremely low and the lack of humidity can dry out your skin and mucous membranes. Low humidity also makes the air feel colder than it actually is. Dry air can also dry out the wood in the walls and floors of our houses. As the drying wood shrinks, it can cause creaks in floors and cracks in drywall and plaster. Dry air also increases static electricity.

Does the product require regular cleaning?Regular cleaning is recommended; approximately every 1-2 weeks (depending on use). When storing the unit, it is recommended to pour any excess water out and clean it with a soft, damp cloth. Let dry completely before storing.

Are there any wicks or evaporating pads to replace? No. There are no wicks or pads to replace.

What is ultrasonic technology? An ultrasonic humidifier uses a metal diaphragm vibrating at an ultrasonic frequency to create water droplets. Thanks to ultrasonic technology the Guardian Technologies humidifier is virtually silent when running, allowing you to keep it on while you sleep.

What is Silver Clean technology and why is it used in your humidifier?Unlike other humidifiers that grow slimy mold and bacteria, the Guardian Technologies Pure Guardian 120-Hour Ultrasonic Humidifier uses Silver Clean technology embedded in the tank to fight the growth of mold and mildew on the surface of the water tank.

Where should I use the product? It is recommended that you place the product up and not on the floor. Placing it on a table or nightstand during operation is suggested. DO NOT place unit directly on carpet, towels, blankets or other absorbent surfaces.

What size room will the humidifier work in?Thanks to the adjustable spray feature, this humidifier works well in both large and small rooms.

What is a comfortable humidity level?Forty to fifty-five percent humidity is considered within the comfortable range. Any humidity level below thirty percent is considered dry.

How do I choose warm or cool humidification?Choosing warm or cool humidification is based on your preference. Warm moisture tends to make the air in the room feel warmer due to the warm vapor being released into the air. In contrast, cool moisture generally has the opposite effect, causing the air to feel cooler. Therefore, if you live in a warm climate, you may prefer a cool moisture humidifier, while those who live in colder climates may prefer a warm moisture humidifier.

Do I need to heat the water first if I want to have warm humidification? No. It is recommended to put room temperature water into the tank for humidifying. The Guardian Technologies humidifier will heat and maintain the water temperature for warm humidification.

Do I need to put in a certain type of water for my humidifier to work? You can use either distilled or regular tap water. If you have a high mineral content in your tap water, it may be preferable to use distilled water. Since distilled water is likely to contain lower mineral content than most tap water it will prevent less build-up.

Certifications

If you have allergies, have trouble breathing, suffer from asthma attacks or any other issues related to your lungs, you should look in to the benefits of using a UV-C air sanitizer.

Breathing clean air is very important to healthy living. Up until a short time ago, if you wanted to purify the air in your house you used a traditional forced air system that filtered out airborne germs with a multi-layered system, or a filter made out of carbon.

This method worked fine up to the point where the filter couldn't handle the amount of particles it was expected to remove from the air. Other drawbacks were that they were difficult to maintain and their operating expense was high due to the cost of replacement filters.

UV-C air sanitizers operate in a way that's unlike any other air purification technique. Rather than try to block every single contaminant in the air, UV-C sanitizers simply destroy the microorganism and cause it to be ineffective.

This approach is both simpler to keep up with as well as easier to maintain. Rather than trying to gather and dispose of harmful particles by buying expensive filters, a UV-C air sanitizer uses the sanitizing power of ultraviolet light.

Benefits of UV-C Air Sanitizers:

  • Kills Over 99.9% of Airborne Bacteria: Unlike traditional air purifiers which become less effective as their filters get full and over worked, UV air sanitizers kill over 99.9% of the bacteria in the air.
  • Odor Fighting: UV-C air sanitizers also help to reduce the odors in the air. Whether it's odors caused by pets, smoking, mildew or mold, ultraviolet light has the air cleaning power to make your house smell clean and fresh.
  • Kills Mold: One of the ways UV-C air sanitizers fight mold and mildew smells is by actually stopping them from growing. The UV rays of their special light bulb kills mold spores at a micro organic level.
  • Quietness: Traditional air purifiers use forced air induction and utilize noisy fans to create air movement. UV-C air sanitizers operate with only UV light. Amazingly, even small ultraviolet air sanitizers are able to process over 1000 cubic feet of air per hour.

Benefits of Ultrasonic Humidifiers:

They produce a warm or cool mist by using a metal diaphragm vibrating at high-frequency. The sound vibrations propel moisture into the air. The water molecules that are produced are extremely small, about one micron in diameter. The mist is almost immediately absorbed into the air. Keep the air from getting dry and stuffy and enjoy a better night's sleep with an Ultrasonic Humidifier.

Do Pros outweigh Cons?

February 5, 2013
There is a lot of white dust on the furniture and in the air (very noticeable in the air); especially when running it on warm mist. Warm mist...well that is a bit misleading. We could never tell the difference. We did try filtered water as well but didn't notice any real difference.

The upside is no need to replace filters, length of time it will run between refills (though warm setting used water more quickly), it is very quiet, and the digital display is nice though it really doesn't add anything to the operation.

The downside is the white dust, even with the demineralization filter; no noted difference between warm/cold; and the refill method (though when we compared styles the all seemed to have similar ways of refilling).

All in all it humidifies. We still haven't decided if the Pros outweigh the Cons.

i like it

I like it. You don't have to fill it every day, and the mist is very adjustable. It works with warm or cool mist. With every ultrasonic humidifier, I think, you get a little white residue. So, I have to clean the windows a little more often. I like the fact that you don't have to get separate filters.
