West Paw Design believes in making a commitment to the environment! They have numerous eco-activities, activities that both protect and help the current environment:
Smart Manufacturing:
West Paw Design have developed a smart manufacturing process that minimizes waste (currently as low as 2.4%!), this same philosophy was taken into consideration when designing their state-of-the-art building. It was constructed in 2001 with an eco-expansion plan in mind where they could essentially use their own recycled walls in the expansion. When the building expansion took place in 2009 and 2010, the original back walls of the building were moved and reused in the new structure, reclaiming 175 tons of concrete that would have otherwise gone to landfills.
Re-use and recyclable materials throughout their smart manufacturing process:
Scrap materials are used to create new pet supplies; reclaimed and reused old boxes are utilized to store finished goods rather than plastic manufacturing totes. They also incorporate recycled material in their shipping boxes.
West Paw uses eco friendly components in their pet supplies, like...
- IntelliLoft:West Paw utilize recycled IntelliLoft fibers that are derived from recycled plastic bottles in all of their cat and puppy beds and many of their pet toys.
- Organic Cotton: Making organic cotton an option in their bumper bed line lets customers choose to purchase a "greener" option puppy bed.
- Reclaimed Cotton: Offering dog sweaters made from reclaimed cotton is just another aspect of West Paw Design’s smart manufacturing, which reduces waste, adds no new chemicals, and saves water.
- Organic Catnip: Found in almost all of their cat toys is made in the USA catnip and has a premium mixture of leaves and flowers that provide a fragrant aroma and is USDA Certified Organic!
- Zogoflex: Is super durable and made to be 100% recyclable. Dog toys made of this material will last a lifetime,
- Smart Packaging: Even their packaging is made from recycled content that is recyclable! All items have a minimum of 30% recycled content, but most tags and packaging are 100% post-consumer recycled paper stock. Recycled PETE plastic is used to create smart packaging on their Hucks, Hurley, Tux, and Bumi toys - which means that not only is the toy recyclable, but so is the packaging! All of their office paper, packaging, envelopes, letterhead, etc. also contains at least 30%, but even most of these items are 100% recycled content too.
Going Green is not a new fad, West Paw Design lives this way! From incorporating smart packaging and smart manufacturing to help their office go paperless, to having recycled magazines, paper, plastic, and aluminum cans in their breakroom. West Paw strives to make a minimal impact every day and continue to look for more ways to grow even greener! It shows that they like our environment and want to keep the Earth a clean planet for all!

Wash and Care Instructions:
Need to clean your puppy bed? No problem - these puppy beds were designed to be washed again and again. You can wash the entire bed, cover and inner-pillows:
For quick washes (covers only):
- Machine Wash on COLD/COLD.
- Machine Dry on LOW heat.
For deeper cleanings, you may wash the entire bed. Since every washer and dryer are different, it is recommended different strategies to different people. If you have a machine that is known to be tough on clothing (catching or tearing fabric), then it is suggested you leave the insert pillow in its cover during the wash. However, if your washer machine is a front loading machine with a gentle history, then you may separate the pillow insert from the cover, inspect inserts, and wash all parts:
- Machine Wash on COLD/COLD using GENTLE cycle.
- Machine Dry on LOW heat or AIR DRY. (See note #2 below)
Important Notes:
- If there is a tear in the white covering, or if an area of weakness is noticed, be sure to have these areas fixed or replaced before washing. If a damaged pillow is washed, the IntelliLoft fill could clog drains (not to mention is no fun to clean up).
- When drying the larger size puppy beds, be sure that the bed is freely tumbling. If one area of the puppy bed is pushed against the heating element and does not rotate, the heat could damage the fabric.
- Be sure to "zip close" any zippers. This helps protect the zipper during the wash and gives it a longer life.
